Education is at the core of all we do...

We believe that conservation begins with community. We aim to foster the culture of conservation in Monteverde, begining with future generations.

We have been honored over the past three years to collaborate with local schools where we have shared our love of climbing and the local ecosystems with kids of all ages.  We achieved this by taking over the schools' physical education classes on a quartly basis. â€‹

From 2022-2024 our courses impacted:

Our students ranged from ages 4-18. We have developed a beautiful bond among hundreds of kids in our community and through these classes were able to connect them with nature on a weekly basis.

2022: 152 students/ week
2023: 272 students/ week
2024: 170 students/ week

We aim to empower kids with the tools to pursue their own activism and to address problems within their present and future communities.

It is important to us to make our courses accessible to youth of all socio-economic backgrounds. So far, these courses have been confined to private school campuses due to accessibility issues (a lack of trees on campus and funding to carry out such programs). We hope to remedy this in the next year as we reorient and continue to develop modes of funding.

Next climbing season we plan to offer courses outside of school that facilitate more comprehensive learning through ecological and climbing systems-oriented curricula inspired by local ecologists and conservationists.

By offering programs outside of schools, we hope to connect with youth from a wider range of backgrounds and resources. These courses will enable students to conduct research projects and present them to our community while learning climbing techniques and systems.

We also developing scholarship and work exchange opportunities for members of our community, so that we may continue to provide our tree climbing instructors with fair compensation, while continuing to offer more climbing opportunities to anyone who is interested, regardless of what they can pay.
